Our state Chairman, Regino "Reggie" González, welcomes you to our new website.
The 1972 Presidential campaign, for the first time, created an outreach committee to involve Hispanic American voters. The Spanish Speaking Committee for the Re-election of President Nixon was instrumental in acquiring 60% of the Hispanic vote.
Additionally in 1972, President Nixon appointed George H. Bush as Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).  Reviewing the substantial gains achieved by GOP candidates among Hispanic voters during the past election, Bush believed there was a need to keep all the Hispanic Americans who participated in President Nixon's election in the ranks of the Party.
Subsequently, Chairman Bush announced the formation of the Spanish Speaking Advisory Committee to the RNC.  The Committee's goals were to expand and improve the participation of Spanish surnamed persons in the Party.
Under the leadership of the national members of the Spanish Speaking Advisory Committee, the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA) was founded in July 1972.
In 1974, the RNC chartered the RNHA as an Allied Organization. Since that time, RNHA has been the only Hispanic Republican organization granted a charter as an allied organization of the RNC.
